Map not showing up

Hey.
I'm running civ 2 gold edition on win 7 64-bit.
I got the game starting and everything looks fine, up to the point where the game starts.
I see my settler, and everything else, except the map! It's a pitch black void.

When I open Civ2map and I see the samething ie, nothing. The map tiles are gone, but everything else seems to be there.

Any ideas on what's going on?

Try reinstalling the game if you haven't yet.

If that doesn't solve your problem, open your Civ 2 folder and check to make sure there are files called Terrain1 and Terrain2.

Thanks for the effort. Still no map though.

I do have the terrian1 and terrain2, both are gifs and when I open them they look alright.

Are you playing a standard game, or a scenario?
