I keep seeing people talk about regenerating the map they play on if they don't like their start. I haven't found the option for this. Where is this found, and are there any disadvantages compared to recreating an entirely new map?

It should be about halfway down the options, which you get from the options button at the top left of your screen next to the Pedia. You can only select it though on the very first turn.

It is not an option for me when I play FFH though. I thought Kael removed it. I admit, I often regenerated back when I still played vanilla.

I'd love to have this option back, but someone told me it was removed, because the start-settlers didn't keep their promotions after regenerating the map.

Enter the worldbuilder, select Map mode, and a little button appear that allows you to regenerate the map. (note that this will mess with some options, like advanced start and end of winter)

If you place something over the lower-right corner of your screen you won't see the minimap and spoil the world layout.

Yeah it messes with a bunch of FfH options (thaw, unique features, starting settler bonuses, etc etc) so we removed it.

I use the one in the worldbuilder and I don't think the settlers lose thier start promotion, or maybe I'm just not paying close attention.

Speaking of map generation... Could we get a map option to "Include all unique features"?

I rather like most of them, add character to a map, and it'd be kinda cool to know I've got all of them in there.

The carcers ring only appears on snow tiles, so if you are using ice age or cold world, you are more likely to see it. Even if you have the tropical setting, you can still get it, but it's less likely.

Maybe some modder could fix up the Letum Frigus and the Guardian of Pristinus Pass to do a little something when not needed for a scenario.

I'm guessing Letum Frigus will give Ice Mana when it's added. I'm excited to see what the Guardian will eventually do as well.

Agreeing with the idea for an "All Unique Improvements" game option, too.

I too think that an "All Unique Features" game option would be a very good idea. (I'm assuming it would have to be called that, since they are always called features instead of improvements)

I've already made Letum Frigus give Ica mana in my version. I also made it act like a Citadel. I would probably make it require Cold resistance to enter, but only features have that tag. (I'll see if I can get xienwolf to add this)

(I'd made almost all unique features grant mana. Metamagic for the Remnant of Patria, Body for Odio's Prison, Spirit for the Pool of Tears, etc.)

I've yet to come up with an idea for the Guardian of the Pristinus Pass, since I know nothing about it. For now, I'll probably give it a ranged defense modifier.

Thanks! I'm a serial map-regenerater, but I had forgoten about this feature. It's too bad that you always end up seeing more than you'd like, but it's a lot better then going back choosing all your setup options.

Having "All unique feature" option will make it becaome a little mundane and remove the varied game play??? Wouldn't it?
Of course I could always not enable it... :)
