I really like SmartMap (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=154989) but I can't seem to generate working maps for multiplayer no matter which settings I choose. The problem I am going to describe also happens with many other custom Map Scripts but not all.

Versions of the game with which I tested (all clean*, unmodded installations)
*every remainings of old installations, including cache, were deleted prior to installation of another version:

1. Civ IV Beyond the Sword Steam Version which is 3.19 out of the box
2. Civ IV Complete Edition which was patched to 3.19
3. Civ IV Special Edition with Civ IV Beyond the Sword installed additionally and patched to 3.19

All games were unmodified except for required patches.

I put the smartmap.py (or any other custom Map Script) in the...

1. My Games\<game>\CustomAssets\PublicMaps
2. <installation folder>\Beyond the Sword\Assets\PublicMaps

...folder and both lead to the same results.

Whenever I generate a map for single player, a normal map is generated. When I generate a map for multiplayer is is just grassland and maybe some forests and hills, but no lakes or ocean. This happens with default map script settings and any randomly chosen non-default settings. The behaviour does not change depending on the players in the game. It happens with 1, 2 and also 8 players in the game (no matter if AI or real humans).

I also tried to disable/enable caching in the Civilization IV.ini which doesn't change behaviour as well.

Sometimes, let's say 1 in 30-40 tries, a regular map is generated in multiplayer games. But depending on the setup it is quite annoying when 8 players have to try numerous times to get a working map.

I found some threads here describing similar problems, but I could not find any solution to the problem. All the things that were suggested like re-installing with a clean install, disable caching, clear cache etc. did not help at all.

I am really stuck here and any help would be highly appreciated!
