Marathon Game Speed?

I never heard any mention of the different game speeds yet, but am I correct to assume that the marathon game speed is still returning? That is the only speed that I ever play Civilization with. I also hope that this setting has been fine-tuned by the release of the game. Beyond Earth's marathon game speed was completely broken upon it's release (by stealing like 10000 energy with a spy right from the start) among other things.

I also wonder how the builders 'charges' will affect this game speed. I always enjoyed the lengthy improvement process with the workers. I'm not saying the change will be good or bad, but will have to see how it turns out...

Game speeds were mentioned. Videos are played on quick speed. Don;t remember about Marathon, but it's very likely to be in.

EDIT: You still need to build your builders before making improvements. So the speed is reflected here.

I ended up buying Civilization Revolution 2 for iPhone. Worst decision of my life since there was only the regular 'quick' game speed. Biggest waste of money since I played it for 10 minutes and never again.

We don't know whether there is a marathon speed, so it's not totally guaranteed, but I'd say it's likely. It was in past Civ games and there's no reason it'd not work more or less the same in VI.

What options are in Civ Rev (2) is pretty irrelevant. That is a different series of games with completely different design criteria (e.g., it's meant for more casual play or to draw in non-Civ players to the series).

While not on top of the popularity charts there still seem to be quite a lot of people playing that game speed, and it doesn't take much other than some numbers tweaking to add game speed setups to the game.

So given that we know that with Quick and Standard there are definitely multiple game speeds the environment to support those must be in place, I'd say the chance that we get marathon-ish game speeds is about 99.99%.

I only play CIV on MARATHON mode, as I find myself less able to connect with the game world on anything less than EPIC speed.

Have they confirmed a MARATHON game speed in VI?

Hopefully technology / production / unit movement is paced well enough that playing on normal doesn't feel rushed.

I don't recall hearing anything about different game speeds, though.

all the Let's Plays are on 'quick' mode afaik. If there is quick, there is probably at least epic or marathon.

I have a feeling that its going to be a even mroe faster game then civ 5 those eureka moments look broken

It always annoyed me when people randomly name turn numbers without saying which speed they're on and I have to think: "Wait, they can't mean standard, can they?" - so let's hope Marathon has been cut so everybody must play on the same game speed.

Honestly though, no it has not been confirmed, but yes, obviously it will be in the game.

It's like asking: "Will the sun set tomorrow?" - we don't knoooow it will, but obviously it will.

What I really want to see is a game speed slower than Epic--which still feels a little too fast to me--but faster than Marathon--which feels way too slow for me. In Civ5 I play on Epic, but I'd really prefer a somewhat slower pace--without making a single game take a month to play.

Until the day it doesn't... at which point we won't care very much.
Right, because we'll be occupied with crafting weapons to hold off the zombie apocalypse!

In one of the videos today, can't remember which one, they asked a question about speeds and she said "Have we mentioned Online Speed yet?"

In guessing that is the solar opposite of Marathon speed but we'll have to wait and see

The solar opposite? That's a new one! ;)

Marathon only for me. I did try Epic once (by accident!) and I quite enjoyed that but still preferred Marathon. If I'm playing Civ I'm in it for the duration - not for a day or two! :D

Oh and biggest map possible as well of course.

I'm certain that it will be in. Game speeds have become a staple of the series and to not include an option for individual playing preferences would be a site undersight.
