Marathon vs. Normal score

Today I won my first cultural victory on the marathon game speed. I did well (?) and finished in 1843, and received a final score of about 8700.

My best (earliest) cultural win on normal speed so far has been 1934. Now the interesting point: I finished that game with pretty much exactly the same game score as the marathon game (+/- 10points), however I received a way higher final score there (11000 something).

So I'm wondering...why is marathon weighted so differently? When should I have won the marathon game to receive a comparable score to my normal speed game?

Ignore any and all score comparsons. Especially--

1) from one speed to another (apples to oranges)

2) from one victory type to another (apples to oranges & the scoring algorithm is wacked... this has been well documented)

3) from one map size to another (see above)

4) from one skill to another

Basically, with those conditions, you can ignore game-end score altogether. Maybe with the next upgrade they'll fix this.

However, if you ALWAYS play (e.g.,) Spaceship and you ALWAYS play the same size, same skill, and same speed, THEN you can effectively get a good comparison from one game to another. :)

the scoring system has some huge problems. my second game (on cheiften) has a higher score than most of my noble games (which I've done much better in)

I played a game on settler on got a HUGE score

I agree the scoring seems to be a bit whacked.

I recently won a cultural victory on noble/marathon and it was my lowest score of all my games by a substantial amount.
