Master Rancher

How do the master professions work. I was wanting to build a master Rancher but saw that I had to have one to even be able to build one. Could someone please explain?

They are buildable by Great Engineers and the correct tech IIRC.

The first master building must be built by a Great Engineer. After that you may build them anywhere.
