Max amount of relics

Does anyone know if there is a limit to the amount of relics one can earn? Playing with Khmer trying to get CV with Reliquaries, suiciding my missionaries which resulted in 9 relics. But now they just die while I still have plenty of slots left!

Before the fall patch, there were only 9 relics, thus it was impossible to get more. They added 8 new relics with the fall patch, but maybe didn‘t increase the number of relics per game? Or maybe the other civs have a total of 8 relics and thus all are already in use.

I bought the only relic in AI possession, the 9th one. So I guess the limit is still set on 9 relics?

I guess it was an oversight by Firaxis in that case. Worth a report imo.

Yeah but did he earn them or did he buy them? Maybe I should trade relics for great writings to make space for new relics. And then later trade them back.

I have earned more than 9 in a game many times since they changed it so not sure why you're not able to get more.
