If any of you play Civ III (or PTW) regularly with the largest map and maximum number of civs - please share any experience/tips as to how it might differ from 'standard' games. I usually play on smaller worlds with less civs. I imagine that diplomacy or world war would be nightmarish??

With a lower number of civs it seems to be easier to establish a monopoly for "important" strat resources (as the number of them on a map depends on number of civs). Diplomacy with a crowded world can be nice when you are looking for gpt/tech trades.

Larger world and more civs allows you to flesh out diplomatic avenues along with developing your own civ. There is more interesting play on this setting

The only tip is to not get most of them mad at the same time, having everyone's troops invading you empire would not be a pretty site.

That's a good tip. I am playing this format and the foolish Egyptians attacked me and before you know everyone was lining up to attack them. Basically it's a free for all with everyone trying to gobble up Egypt and her land.

i love it, specially on modern times. i play dyp, with 256x256 map and 31 civs. diplomacy is the only way out!

The AI takes like 10 minutes to finish thier turns so I could go in the modern times. And with 31 civs it would take like a half hour until I start my turn!!

I realy hesitant before I start a Huge map game because I dont know if ima start near like 7 other civs with bad territory but after you play it out you'll be ontop. You'll have to kill of at least 2 civs to get decent territory even if your going for a peaceful victory.
