Here are some thoughts I have that may be helpful...
First, keep in mind that the last information you posted was for an American Ticonderoga-class guided missile cruiser. Ticonderoga's are AEGIS cruisers, which are already included in the game (though I admit the unit in the game looks nothing liek it is supposed to). Similarly, Arleigh-Burke class destroyers, which someone mentioned earlier, are AEGIS destroyers. AEGIS refers to the fire control system, and you can always regognize a ship with the AEGIS system from those hexagonal plates on the front and back of the ship.
If you are doing a frigate, like the Oliver Hazard Perry-class that dannyevil cat provided a diagram of, the Mk 13 Mod 4 launcher in the front is used to launch both harpoons and SM-2s. The frigate has no Vertical Launch tubes.
If you are going to do the Ticonderoga, I would advise against using a harpoon launch as the attack image. Harpoon's launch from the quad-lanchers on the back of the crusier. I would Make the image a Tomohawk launch from the front vertical launchers. The VLS tubes are those little circles in that white square behind the 5 inch cannon. I think that would look really good.
I have a recent copy of Jane's Fighting Ships, and I am pretty knowledgable in modern warships, so if you need any techincal advice regarding the warships let me know.
