I don't think there's any harm in having it, but if it's like Norton's version, there are a few false positives I've noticed (not a lot though).
My Firefox browser has something built into it seems like (or maybe it's google), because sometimes my browser won't load a page and tell me the site is reportedly malware.
I think common sense with a combination of Malwarebytes and maybe AdBlock would be just fine.
There is also a FF add-on I've seen recommended called "Web of Trust"
When a mechanism meant to trigger or activate based on a predetermined condition, triggers when it thinks an input satisfies the condition.
Like a pregnancy test that tests positive, despite the woman not actually being pregnant.
It signals the presence of something that isn't actually there. It's a mistake.
False-positives are also a variable I see a LOT in used to rate/compare anti-virus and anti-malware software.
I guess most people think it's an issue, but most would rather be safe than sorry (better than not detecting actual malware).
