Medieval:Total War

Has anyone taken over the whole map? I've gotten close to it and I have an English game where I could have taken the world but that was on easy. Oddly in my Spanish games, if I leave the game for awhile and try to attack the pope, all my provinces will revolt even if taxes are lowered...

Does anyone know if they've fixed the crashing problems? Mine crashes to desktop immediately when I try to load MP, try to load the campaign tutorial, or try to advance the campaign menu. I was able to do the entire battle tutorial. This has happened in both v. 1.00 and v. 1.1. I have tried every different combo of drivers, DirectX, screen resolution, etc, as well as every suggestion on the support websites, to no avail. I have an ATI Rage 128 PRO 32 MB video card, and am WAY above the recommended system specs. I am desperate to get this game working, is there anything I can do, or do I need a new video card?

No I don't know, you'll probably find it more useful to vist the Medieval website...

Followed every bit of advice on the support page from www.totalwar.com and still can't get the freaking game to work! It drives me to great sorrow, I was so looking forward to playing this game. Sigh now I face the Dilemma of waiting for a possiable patch to fix the problems or actually getting a refund. (sniffle)

The crash is your graphics card. If you are stuck with a 32 MB video card, go to eBay and pick up a 64 MB Kyro II card. I got mine for under $40, and now I am enjoying Medieval: Total War immensely. This is a fairly cheap way to get the game to work, and you will notice the difference on other games as well. I've managed to grow fairly rich and powerful in my first (easy) game, as the Danes. I've destroyed the Germans and been excommunicated, and it's more fun than I ever would have thought.

Hmm perhaps I will try it.

Does that mean I'd have to install it? I have no clue how I would do that.

Installing a video card is pretty easy - just consult your computer manual, it will give you detailed instructions on how to do it, although you should consult the web to make sure that a Kyro II video card is compatible with it. If you don't have a manual, or it doesn't give you instructions for some reason, just open up your computer and look at how your current video card is installed, and put the new one in the exact same way (after removing the current one.) You can also find detailed installation instructions on the web by searching "Install video card" on Google. If you are unsure of which card is your video card, it is the card that your monitor is plugged into.

Be warned that a Kyro II is not a top-of-the-line card, and may not be compatible with future games. However, it is very inexpensive (top video cards can go for over $200), and will work perfectly with Medieval: TW. I have played for many hours crash-free, and only experience crashes on the campaign map when I leave it idle for several hours.

So I finnally got the game to work and I have to say that I love the way Trade and Sea Travel is done in this game. Finnally a game where controlling the seas is worth something! Navies are finnally important in a game! YAY!

Hi

Does any one else have the problem i have the ships disapperaing but i am still paying for them
hAve tehy fixed this in patch v.1.1 Hers is a screen shot of my problem
Thanks-

Man, stopped playing this game a while ago now - time to fire it back up. I never did get into ships because there was so much land around me to attack. :)

I've never noticed that before although I do use ships alot as there is nothing like a trade ring of ships around the med to boost incomes :D
