Ok, I have problems winning at noble so I will try to play through a game and do some show and tell on what I do.
Hopefully I can get some strategic masterminds to give me some insight on where I can improve.

The settings for the game are the following. Big and small, Noble and Epic.

Playing as Gandhi as I like him a lot. Here is my start.

Will settle in place I guess. 3 clams and some gold aren't too shabby. Techwise is where I need some help. Should I go for fishing first because of the clams or should I found a religion? And what about production. No point in getting a worker since he will have nothing to do. Another warrior to get some heavy exploring duty?

You have Mysticism already with India, and being able to work clams - giving you 2 coins while still having 2 food for some growth, i think you should be getting a early religion.

I agree about building a worrier first - it also allowing you city to grow to work more clams later :D However i would not call mining that gold "Nothing to do" India has Mining from the start (or am i wrong ?).

I think my start would be: Early Religion, Fishing, Bronze. While researching produce Warrior then worker, so when fishing is done you probaly can chop a work boat to improve the clams.

skip an early religion. I'd go fishing --> mining --> BW. Revolt to slavery ASAP. Build would be workboat --> warrior till size 2, then worker and whip out the worker as soon as slavery is adopted. Then build a warrior + WB, grow to size 4 and whip out a settler.

I agree with shyuhe, fishing, mining, and bronze working are top priorities. His build order is spot on, too.

Thanks for your answers guys.
Just woke up and will play some turns with you advice in mind and give an update before work.

Ok, turn 44. The worker is done and got started on a gold mine. I've met 5 other civs, 3 of them which I know where is.

The + is where I'm thinking of founding my next city. Should I go for the copper maybe?

I don't like the cross location. I'm guessing you're looking at it for stone + rice but I think it's too far and the stone will take too long to hook-up for it to be worth the trouble. I would rather plant a second city between the corn and pigs then whip out settlers from both Delhi and the new city. You can tech AH --> writing and build settlers in both after that and run scientists to get your economy to alphabet/CoL/currency. In the meantime, you can send out your 3rd settler to the copper/rice spot (If the American civ is imperialistic, I may consider settling south of the copper first to make sure you get a metal source - and it's a nice central location). If you want to be aggressive, I'd go 1S of the copper, and if you want to take it slow, I'd take the food rich site first to increase the growth rate of your civ.

If you take corn/pig, both of your two cities will be food rich but hammer poor so you'll have to put them on specialist duty for the time being while you get other hammer rich cities built.
