Middle Earth: First Age

I have seen lots of maps and scenarios for the War of the Ring, but none about the War of the Jewels during the First Age.

So I thought I'd start compiling one.

The timeperiod I'm leaning towards is the beginning of the Dagor Bragallach (aka Battle of Sudden Flame). This occurred the year 455 of the First Age and broke the Siege of Angband.

Possible Civilizations:

Forces of Evil
The Noldor
The Sindar of Doriath
The Edain
Laiquendi of Ossiriand
Dwarves of Belegost and Nogrod

Possible Units (not including uniques):

Orc Spearman
Orc Swordsman
Orc Light Cavalry
Orc Heavy Cavalry
Orc Archers
Orc Catapult (and other siege engines)
Werewolves
Balrogs
Dragons

Noldor Swordsmen
Noldor Bowmen
Noldor Cavalry
Sindar Bowmen
Sindar Swordsmen
Edain Archer
Edain Cavalry
Edain Spearman
Laiquendi Bowmen
Dwarven Axemen
Dwarven Archer
Dwarven Dragon-slayer

Working on compiling a list of cities, fortresses, geographical features, and unique units.

Opinions? Suggestions? Comments?

Sounds cool! I'll play whenever you get around to finishing it!! Cool!!
Welcome to the forums!! :goodjob:!!!

Cities are very difficult for ME scenarios. I'd recommend that you delete Settlers from the unit list.

Anyway:

NOLDOR:
Lake Mithrim (capital)
Barad Eithel
Gondolin
Vinyamar
Nargothrond
Minas Tirith upon Tol Sirion
Himring (possibly divide Feanor's House from the other two?)
Aglon (see above)
Lake Helevorn (see above)
Amon Ereb (see above)

SINDAR:
Menegroth (capital)
Methed-en-glad
Brithombar (Maybe Falas is separate?)
Eglarest (see above)
Barad Nimrais (see above)

Other than those, the parts of the Forest of Doriath would make good names: Region, Neldoreth, Nivrim (and maybe Brethil)

EDAIN:
Estolad (capital)
Amon Obel
Eithel Ivrin
Ladros
Amon Darthir

Just some suggestions. The Atlas of Middle-Earth is a huge help.

Wow, thanks! Yea, those look great. Been meaning to pick up that Atlas myself. I might go do that after work tonight.

The settlers idea is a good one.

When reviewing the unit list, did anything else jump out? Will probably try to provide at least some basic upgrades and maybe names that are better. Those are pretty generic.

Thinking of making regicide or mass regicide a default option for this scenario. That way if you are the side of evil if you lose Morgoth or Sauron you would lose. Similarly, if you were to lose such figures as Thingol or Fingolfin or Turin you would lose.

Or maybe just tie it to victory points instead. Can you do negative VPs for losing something?
