Middle-Earth: Lord of the Mods (Private Beta I)

Thanks for keeping this thread at the top of the forum, guys, but we do have a mod to work on, if anyone is interested. :p
Your welcome, but nothing was really going on here so I didn't think anyone would mind. Look at me a spam machine today. I think I got around 20 posts. You like spam in a can or pouch? :nospam:

Celeborn, PM PCHighway and get in on the private-beta. Or are you already in? I can't remember, Mr. Pop-in-and-Out not very often. ;)

I dont mean to bug you, as I know you are probably hard at work testing, and managing and such like, but its been a while since anything was said now, and I was wondering if you could let us lurkers here know how its going?:)
No giant dissertation, just a sentence is enough, but tell us how our baby's doing?

Uh, I haven't checked in for the last week and a half, but hum. Last I remembered we were just getting over a big fight about Easterling flavour units. Seeing how there's a crying lack of Central Asian unit graphics out there, the debate was whether or not the Easterlings should be more Slavic or more Chinese looking. (Yes, we know about utah's Easterling unit from the movies. But that's only one unit graphic. We need like, what, 16 or something?) I was of the opinion that, seeing how everybody else looks roughly Slavic, it would be boring if the Easterlings did too.

And we were also trying to iron out some wrinkles in playing Isengard as a one-city civ with unit generating unique wonders and stuff like that.

And other playtesting.

I guess I should head in there and see what's up.

Testing goes on...we have most of the bugs found, except for a couple pain-in-the-butts. The main thing we are doing now is waiting for R8XFT to release Anno Domini, which includes many new units that we are salivating over.

Yup... unit lines are being ironed out. Utahjazz is finishing up a true easterling unit for us, one with a beard and axe and his orginal 'easterling' resembles Tolkien's description of a southron more... Jackson seems to have confused his easterlings and southrons in the movies.

The Northmen, Rohan, Gondor, Numenor, Isengard and Arnor will all be using varying units from the same pool of european and slavic units. I am definitely in Mithaden's camp that the easterlings could stand some more asian units (as long as they are not too oriental) to help distinguish them a little.

Anno Dominii units and the one(s) Zulu are releasing soon are highly anticipated to continue giving more variety to the mannish civs.

This is going to be a great mod when it comes out and I don't see it being too far away. I have my dueling pistols at the ready for our looming final conflict over what units will go to what nations.... :spear:

And, in another part of the galaxy,
mrtn and PCH was busy
converting buildings gfx
and writing pedia entries...

ive been checking back ever since my last post but i couldnt be bothered to post anything again but im surprised it hasnt been finished by now but i suppose its gonna be great..

It's a "near" release as far as work on mods go... where there is always more work to be done. The mod could go public today and it would be very enjoyable but we want a very finished product to release :)

First time poster, but had to. Very excited about the mod.

Any word on progress? Are the creators here waiting for Civ 4, or is the Easterling/Haradrim issue still in contention (or something else)?

Hoping,

Michael
