Anyone know how to get the Military advisor to view other civs units? I only see the nearest one, and that can really suck when you see it all the time. And it wasn't even that real close. It only had two cities boder me. The French had at least four.

You can activate some window within military advisor screen, also if you succesfully plant a spy he can tell you how many units of each kind a.i. got, and finaly if you steal plan( espionage mission) than he tell you where they are. Just explore military advisor screen carefully and click on some window to open new choice.

If you need more info on spy just ask.

There's a map on the Military Advisor screen, right? So you just click there? But I do have spies in every civ. I have done steal plan espionage and then you can list them by cities. But planting spies is so easy because I reload a lot. I know it's cheap but I'm shooting for diplomatic victory.

hbdragon88:

In the Military Advisor screen if you right click on the title bar of the AI civ it is currently showing (ie - The Army of Persia - Republic), it will bring up a list of all the civs you have contact with. Just select the new civ you want to see the units for.

Tiamat has it right.

Also, you need to select Unit just under the Title Bar of the civ whose army you are investigating. (It toggles between City and Unit. The same option is under your Title Bar, so you can view the total number of each unit type.)

If you have a spy planted, it will show you the number of each type of unit the enemy has. If you conduct espionage to get the army plans, select City and it will show you exactly where each enemy unit is of that civ.

stealing enemy plans is very expensive and the units dissapear after a few turns... It is very nice though, just expensive.

Oh right. After I read the first reply I started fooling around with the military screen (because the stupid advisor kept on saying that I needed a spy to view units) and discovered that you click on the thing. Thanks though anyway...

kb2tvl, I save the game, steal the plans, and view how many units they have. I reload the game. Since I turned off AI respawnning the units shouldn't go haywire and have ten times more than before...

The enemy units do not show in my military advisor screen. Planting spies does not work. The casualties are not shown either. I had to jot down the number of enemy units I killed to a draft paper. The right half of the MA screen is totally useless. Paying for spies to steal army plans is too expensive.

If you fail to plant a spy , wait next turn. Once you succeed, select unit in military advisor screen, then the right side of MA will be full of a.i. units.

About spies, it seems that if you try to plant them too quickly (i.e. right after building the Intelligence Agency) they are always caught. It also seems that the less gold that it requires to plant a spy, the more likely it is to be caught and killed. Anybody have the same thing about this?

Most of the time indeed from my experience, if it fail, i wait next turn, i never do it twice in row against same civilisation.

The cheaper it is mean the capital is smaller, it may improve sucess, i dont know.

Does the Foreign Advisor tell you when a rival civ has rooted out your spy? I've never had that happened to me although I have rooted out spies in every rival civ. I'm thinking that they at least would try to get my spy. I play on Chieftain.

I dont think a.i. use expose mole, i am pretty sure it never happen to me.

If they try to plant a spy and fail he ll tell you.

I tryed to expose mole before but if there is no spy then you loose yours, so once i got a spy, i use him to gather information.

OK, I re-installed the game for another reason, MA screen is working now. Couldn't figure out why it didn't before that.
