The Civ game has a few events related to military units, but most of them usually only apply to older units, such as horse shoes for horse units and a better halberd of pikemen. These proposed suggestions provide a much broader range of possible events for military, improving historical color and playability. I tested a number of them in my testing program of the last two years and had no playability or AI problems. I used World Builder and manual changes to add the promotions and used random die rolls to see if any of the proposed events applied. A list of the basic Events follows (military historians should be able to determine what historical evens and the general/admiral these events are based upon):
A new highly accurate bomb sight has been developed. All Bomber units start with Barrage Promotion I. (available after the first Bomber unit has engaged in a bombing mission) (MUST have at least one Airport)
A new engine for aircraft has been developed that increases the range of fighters. All Fighter units start with Range I promotion. (available after first Fighter has engaged in combat) (MUST at least one Airport)
A new swept wing design has been discovered which greatly improves the maneuverablity of our Jet Fighters. All Jet Fighters start with Interception promotion. (available after first Jet Fighter is engaged in combat) (MUST have at least one Airport)
A Top Gun School for fighter pilots has been established in [City]. All the best pilots are sent there for training. All new Jet Fighters start with Interception promotion, Ace promotion, and Combat I promotion. (available after first Jet is built) (MUST have Airport in City).
A famous general has developed Phalanx tactics, greatly improving the effectiveness of Axemen. All Axemen start with Shock promotion and Combat I promotion. (available after first Axeman engaged in combat)
A famous general has developed Legion tactics, greatly improving the effectiveness of Swordsmen. All Swordsmen start with Shock promotion, Combat I promotion, and Drill I promotion. (available after first Swordsman engaged in Combat)
A famous general has developed Double Envelopment Tactics, greatly improving the effectiveness of Horsemen and Elephants. All Horse Archers and War Elephants receive Morale promotion, Tactics promotion and Combat I promotion. (available with discovery of Nobility)
A famous general has developed Hutier Tactics, greatly improving the effectiveness of Riflemen. All Riflemen start with Tactics promotion and Combat I promotion. (available after first Rifleman has engaged in combat)
A famous general has developed Bounding Overwatch Tactics, greatly improving the effectiveness of Infantrymen. All Infantrymen start with Tactics promotion, Combat I promotion and Combat II promotion. (available after first Infantryman has engaged in combat) (MUST have at least one Military Base)
A famous general has developed Hit & Run Raiding Tactics, greatly improving the effectiveness of Cuirassiers. All Cuirassiers start with Tactics promotion and Flanking I promotion. (available after first Cuirassier has engaged in combat)
A famous admiral has developed Crossing the Tactic, greatly improving the effectiveness of Frigates and Ships of the Line. All Frigates and Ships of the Line start with Flanking I promotion
A famous admiral has developed Battle Turn Tactic, greatly improving the effectiveness of Cruisers. All cruisers start with Combat I promotion and Tactics promotion.
A famous admiral has developed Wolf Pack Tactics for submarines, greatly improving the effectiveness of Submarines. All Submarines start with Drill I promotion and Drill II promotion.
A famous admiral has developed new fire control systems for surface ships, greatly improving the effectiveness of our Battleships. All Battleships start with Sentry promotion, Combat I promotion and Barrage I promotion.
A famous admiral has developed a new bow for surface ships which greatly improves the mobility and seaworthiness of Destroyers and Battleships. All Destroyers and Battleships start with Flanking I promotion and Navigation I promotion. (MUST have at least one Naval Yard)
