We need more artillery and Infantry! I'd like atleast 32 more Infantry to be defending our cities. (Note, please leave Groton on it's factory/coal plant build if it's going to build one). I'd like any city producting atleast 30spt to build infantry. (That's DR, and after some work, St. Octaviansburg, Sanction, Montpellier, Vandelay, Santa Lucia, and Bootsville, which are pretty close to 30spt).

I'd also like artillery. We only have 6 artillery on our mainland, with 3 catapults ready for an upgrade (9 total). Our attack plan on India might consist of 4 simultaneous attacks. So, I'd like 11 more artillery (total of 20 on our continent).

We aren't meeting infantry yet, and won't for quite awhile, but we do need Great Leaders, and artillery helps.

I am sorry that I once again have to disagree. We are NOW able to run over India. If we make the deals I proposed, we can this turn upgrade 3 muskets to infantry giving us a total of 6. Next turn we attack. Next turn we can also upgrade at least 4 more muskets giving us 10 infantry. If possible (barracks) these upgrades can be done in the conquered cities.

We have 46 cavalry. With this cavalry, we can run over more than half of India in 1 turn like this:

The artillery we have can be used to redline any jumbos outside of the cities. Make the kill with swords if possible saving cavalries for long range attack. We do NOT want to bombard cities, because that might destroy valuable infrastructure (barracks, markets) which would be very expensive to build again in this corrupt area; better to loose 2 or 3 cavalry, they can be replaced quickly.

The DP should carefully(!) build railroads to the conquered cities. 1 native plus 1 guest bworker is enough to railroad each flatland tile. And they are all flat. Don't waste worker turns!

In the border cities, we place infantry (muskets and upgrade where barracks) and remaining cavalry. Add warriors/swords for garrison.

And in 1 (at most 2) more turns India is assimilated. :goodjob:

Thus the best job of the governors is to continue strengthen infrastructure for the coming struggle with Persia.

Only half of our roads are connected to the closest tile to India. I'd like a couple more connected so that we can build rails quickly, and conquer quicker. It might just be a turn or two delay, but yes I do agree that we're almost ready. I just want to see more defenses though... The reason I also want extra infantry is to protect our workers who ARE building those rails. And yes, I do have a battle plan.

I'm seeing bloodlust lately in this forum for India (and this time, I didn't start the drum beats. ;)). Do we attack India now (or within the next few turns?). I know Tao's out for blood...

In fact, the "blood" is just the means to reach my favorite goal: complete control of the home continent. We don't want to pay military parasites in all our peaceful commerce generating cities. We already pay 165 gpt for units. And that is about enough. :D

hehe, im out for blood too ;) Lets go kill India for the next TC so we can get a good discussion on it going.

Option 4 (declare war) in the what do we do about India and Germany poll is currently leading, although this poll is getting less attention than the who first poll. Germany is currently leading the who first poll. Either way we need to remember that this is all just preparation for the much harder task in the future - that of conquering the Persian continent. This conflict is to secure our home continent, build up our infrastructure, and prepare for the future. With our rail net we will not have to leave all our central cities garrisoned even now, let's not sacrifice our infrastructure and our future by completely changing over our key cities to military production for what should be a quick conquest. Vandelay currently has a palace prebuild for Hoover and would waste 158 shields if it switched to infantry now. I'm not saying no more military, Infantry can be upgraded (although cavalry can not) but it does need to be balanced.

If the poll results continue this way I will word my instructions so that we do not actually declare war until military is ready.

Me? out for blood? I'd never do such a thing! ;)

I just KNEW there had to be an ulterior motive there! ;)

We are getting low on Cavalry. We could have taken out 4-5 more cities this turn (we could take out atleast 2 more cities atleast), but our cav count is starting to get low. We only have 36, and need more. Our cavalry are garrisoning resisting cities (and are mostly injured). Our defenses are coming along well, although more are needed. Also, more artillery is needed! We only have enough for 1 city at a time (and barely enough at that).

The military always want more resources. Don't we know that. ;)

OTOH we are still not able to research refining in 4 turns. Not even at 100% science. Because we lack libraries and universities.

In Berry province, the governor has failed to give any instructions for the last 4 turnchats. (As a bonus, he is now nominated for President. Good grieve!) Santa Lucia has very good reseach potential, but lacks a university.

Bootsville has 21 tubes, but neither library nor university. Bad. Very very bad.

The Burrow has the Colossus doubling commerce. But neither library nor university. Bad. Very very bad.

If we have higher research power, we can reseacrh at lower science slider settings. This gives us more money to upgrade more muskets to infantry. Thus we should build libraries, universities, and cavalry.

PS: The F11 Demographics screen says: in literacy, we are only 6th place with 37%!

PPS: The war with Germany will last for 7 more turns at least, because we failed to send an expedition corps to the tundra island to go for New Hamburg. Plenty of time to heal our cavalry.

Can someone please tell me why this office has not been declared "abandoned" yet? or at least him being CC'ed?

"GIVE ME MORE SOLDIERS NOBLE LEADER!!!..." - Civ2 Military Advisor. :D

Anyway, the galleon can reach Germany in 5 turns. I think we can defeat Germany by then.

As for the cavs, I'd like to get that number back up to 50. (14 more cav, and then some). I'd also like 10 more artillery for another artillery stack.

I can certanly pump out some military units :)
