Missing buttons here.

dunno, I got some nice scans made today of dwarfs.

I could colour them in and stuff.
also has a nice dwarven miner and a sapper. slayers, clansmen, artillery etc.

How are your buttons? great or soso? maybe we could compete! ;)

This is the way I make a button:
I look at the unit model in the civilopedia ant then start to storm the Internet resources with fantasy pics to find one/some which fit for the model, and then I use Adope Photoshop CS to compile/recolor/edit them. And then, you know, DXTBmp.

I usually scan pictures from books or copy them from pdf-books then alter them in the-same with layers and combine with other sourse mat found on the internet. :)

lately I have been trying to 'cartoonize' the pictures before colouring and shrinking them, some have way too little contrast to make nice icons. It helps with those details that make things unclear when small too.


see, this next magic-button is a small piece of a WH roleplay warlock image:

just some green layering, some colour, the source image on overlay and some toplayer tweaking to make the detail in the button more clear.


edit: Do you still need that Old-ones monastary/temple? If so google for some inca stuff machuPiccu might work.

Haven't given it any background yet or a border.
('cause I don't know the BG style. and I could zoom in on the torso to get more detail.)
edit2: Any ideas on the BG for Dwarves? brown or grey rocks could make the dwarves invisible. ;)
a new skavenmagic button, almost from scratch: "wither" or any other curse-like spell.
ooh! and a cencerbearer.

Great work on those skaven buttons Arexack!

ill get the magic related ones into the next patch for the spells mod, but the other units and stuff will probably need to wait till we get the skaven unit list sorted.
 
yeah. I'm still pretty confused about skaven units, but I'm sure it'll work out eventually.

Currently trying to create a dwarven civ. (XML only for now)
new worker-builds , dwarf mine improvements ,
dwarf equivalent units , dwarf only units to fill the mounted/archers vacuum,
modified dwarf-racial trait (extra hills defence + magically resistant iso double hills movement) (advantage offset by lack of magic)

dwarfs lack in mobility and are costly and maybe need to be rewarded with 'stubbornness' and 'thick skull' toughness to compensate.
Also the higher cost of units may be compensated for by generally higher combat strength or imunity to first strikes. (need testing to decide what is well balanced)

Not yet thinking about dwarven specific buildings.
You are better at that anyhow. :D

it is based on a granary, but i made the roof wit tiles and replaced the wheelless-barrow with a wheel.
 
I could alter it a bit more, to make it less similar at fist glance...
 
I almost screwed my old work up...
Because I resurrected my old system using the special restore option (not the windows restore) to be the same like when I've bought the laptop because a huge problem with my system after a worm, and it returned the C: in the original state too (file structure). So I've lost a lot of things there. It's cool that I've made a backup =).
Buttons.

Now I realised that they have a mipmap. Well it makes them a bit blurry when the game tries to resize them, also it makes them a bit bigger in size. Mipmaps can be removed with photoshop (with dds plugins), but it'll take some time. I could do it if noone will.
 
need no mip-mapping saved in buttons? durn. IIRC I baked into all of them.
