Missing graphics effects bug fixed?

Hi everyone,

After quite some time I decided to come back to Beyond Earth, because for me it is the best Civ game ever.
However, what actually made me stop playing around 2 years ago was a really annoying bug - that in larger battles, with each turn progressing, graphic effects (like missiles, certain explosions etc.) started disappearing and I had to restart the whole game in order to bring them back.

Does anyone by chance know whether this bug was finally fixed?

Thank you and cheers,

Is this BE or BERT your talking about? I've had BERT since late 2016 and can't say I've experienced exactly what your describing above.

Also, you mentioned missiles - since there are no missile units in this game (like nukes or cruise missiles) do you mean like the cities rocket batteries? If so what I have experienced is that if I am moving the display during the AIs' turn to look at a certain area of interest while a battle is going on, that the units which are no longer in focus won't display their battle animations. That's about the closest I've had to experiencing what you've described above since getting BERT.

HTH,

Hello Darsnan,
thank you for your detailed reply. I am talking about both BE and BERT.

Let´s try to explain it a bit differently: each military unit has its particular weapon effects - like explosions, beams etc. And I think they are very well done in CIV BE and especially in the late game they turn the battles very spectacular and nice to watch. This creates a lot of ambience and for me this is important. So what happened to me (and I saw in several forums that other players had the same problem) is that, especially in the late game battles, with each new turn, these weapon and special effects start disappearing or getting "reduced down". It appears - for the lack of knowing what really causes it - like a memory leak effect or something like that. As if the engine itself is reducing the detail and effects level. And the only way to reset this for me was to completely restart the game (loading a previous save game does not resolve the issue). And especially in the late game large battles I basically had to restart the whole game each 2 or 3 turns, in order to get the graphic effects back. And this turned out to be extremely annoying.

Of course, it can be caused by the fact that I only have 8 GB Ram (I7-2600k) - maybe upgrading to 16 GB could resolve this issue. But I am not quite sure about that. Since Civ Beyond Earth is really a game I love I almost would do this upgrade to 16 GB, but I can´t be sure if this really resolved this issue. So that´s the problem.

Cheers,

No, this bug has not been fixed. Attack animations still become stop working over time.

The effect your talking about is not a bug, every second nuke wouldnt show the particle effect.A particle cant be both a particle and a wave.its just a physics thing.there more vram you have the less issues with effects you have.

Oh man I had this bug happening to me too and I thought its bcuz of outdated nvidia and i reinstalled it this time the newest version
