I just got Civ V, game of the year edition. Love it. The combat is amazing. I want to change some things. I made a quick dummy map and found instructions here about then using mod buddy. However I needed to install visual studio 2010 as well.
I downloaded that, specifically this file: "VSIsoShell" I double clicked it as if it were an installer (I thought it was), but continually got errors. I found something that said I needed to extract this file. So I did. This exposed the file "vs_setup.msi" I double clicked this and finally was able to install the rest of the program.
Still had errors. So l hunted around Microsoft's site and found some possibilities that included installing the following two files: "VS10sp1-KB983509" and "VsSDK_sfx" I think these installed ok, but I still have the problem. Someone on Microsoft suggested installing "dotnetfx35setup" and I did but this did not fix it either.
So the issue is, when I try to start Modbuddy I get a message that says "Cannot find one or more components. Please reinstall the application.
It is very possible I mucked up the install of the Microsoft stuff. I highly doubt I did anything wrong with the Civ V sdk. Can anyone make any constructive suggestions?
And again, I apologize if I've stepped horribly in the wrong place. If there is an easy answer or something already printed, please direct me there and don't worry about making some obvious post the idiot n00b and all his idiot n00b friends should already know!!!
