[Mod idea] Atlantis Sinks

Think of it as rather than having mystics/scholars research a tech, the survivors are gearing their efforts towards, say "send the people to to look for trinkets/Swords/survivors (underline as needed)" (thanks Kolchenogiy), instead.

Putting incentives for being the first to gear your survivors towards a goal (say, tech) is that they get something extra. Like free units, limited # better units, luxury, et cetera, would also make sense for this. Along with goody huts like "Cache of mystic runes!" and "Survivors!"

hm, that's an interesting way of putting it. so each research is really finding something or re-discovering something?

I made the decision, I'm moving this in the 'months-few years' timescale, and all that that implies, such as the "events" type techs and caches and what have you. This would of course require a total change in the factions outlined in page one to better reflect different people taking control of survivors, who could be very different. Examples being a scholar taking control over a group of survivors, a greek, a peasant, a noble, fishermen. These factions would not need to be different from each other other than the starting techs, seeing as whoever gets a tech first gets unique benefits from it, individualizing each faction as the game goes on. Making first tier of a specific row of techs slightly more expensive would also give incentive to specialize, though I'm not quite sure about that. Again, the faction list will be updated tomorrow.. and I do realize that this is tomorrow, but I do, of course, mean towards the evening of this day.

Suggestions welcome, naturally.

Tomorrow towards the evening.. which is now.

Updated factions list on page 1

I'll be changing the front page to make it go with the new direction around the same time tomorrow, and I've settled for a name, which will be on the first page along with the changes.

yes, many more gods. Hudreds of thousands of gods, because in Greek mythology, almost everything is a god. nymphs, dryads, niads, et c. Even rocks probably. Lots of gods. Perhaps later units to be able to build could be lesser dieties? That's an interesting thought.

no actually i think they were more under the field of "spirtes"... there were main dietys though and they had offspring with eachother/humans and get these demigods and wierd confussing tangles. I would say you where either a diety, demigod, spirit (or in somecases monsters or sorcerer), or human. The main gods are the Olypians (offspring of the titans) and then from then there are verious heros/demigods and nymps.

What your thinking about is more like shintoism. They belive in kami which are like dieties or spirits in all things (living and none living). If you where to brake down the word... shinto is the kanji for gods or diety and tou is the kanji for path so its translated to something like "the path of gods".

Would it not be more fun if atlantis was slowly sinking after a while, so you have less and less land to be on, having to get more and more to the center of the island where the land is harder and more dangerous.

Now that would be a great idea, about the water level, i have just put TWO maps in the pre-made area, both have the Atlantis title in it, and with the one called the Fall of Atlantis, man would that be great fun to see the middle section "FALL" into the sea area around the other continents. If this can be done, HOW??

why not have 2 different atlantices ex. north and south atlantis so that when they are fighting the alliance against them they have less to manage and turns dont go on so long since atlantis is suppose to start out powerful

Well, a wave has just swept almost all infrastructure off of the island/continent, there would be no reason for any governent to survive the wave, or if it did, to be able to keep control over the hungry survivors. My thoughts, at least.
