in vanilla counter spies allow you to see other spies, not eliminate it ( there is no such option in civ4 )

in bts u have to get used to the new scaling

Well the spies are the most valuable unit in the game then. I dont know if there's a limit on them, if there isnt just build 50 spies and destroy a whole nation since there is no way to stop them. (tell me the use of seeing spies if u cant kill/catch/neutralise them ? )

the scaled units are microscopic compared to the cities, I have to zoom all the way in to see what I've selected and I got no intention of torturing my eyes like that.

Spies should be a national limit unit, so you can only have 3 at once. I suppose this is not changed in MaxRiga / BTS. If I remember correctly you can destroy them with military units once your counter spy found them.

are u saying it to me or to Firaxis? :)))

Spies should be a national limit unit, so you can only have 3 at once. I suppose this is not changed in MaxRiga / BTS. If I remember correctly you can destroy them with military units once your counter spy found them.

this u could do in civ3, not civ4.

Vanilla espionage version is very stupid but I have added counterspy to improve it somehow ( counterspy can see other spies but still you can't expose spies in any ways in civ4 :((((

in BTS I removed counter spies since there is absolutely another way of espionage.

I stand corrected! I remembered I could destroy the fanatic resistant, but the reason was I was at war with them :p
I peace time the only thing you can do is trace the spies and place military units on top of them, hoping to spoil their sabotage activities. But that's not very useful either, because the spy moves away from your troops and then sabotages.

that's right, u can destroy spies in vanilla ( by using counterspies to detect them and any military unit can expose them ) only if u at war with another nation :)))

to prevent sabotages use POLICE unit over ur resources, it helps more then other units ;)

by the way, in BTS helicopters can fly over seas now :))))

I think we had a nice disussion about the Challenger. Please don't feel like your suggestions would not be welcome just because I seem to disagree with most points ;)

A longer barrel leads to a higher speed and therfore a higher armour penetration, (+25% against armor?)
Of course in modern days this does not mean as mutch as it ones did, but it stills hava an inpact

Here I agree that this has not much impact in modern combat. It's much more important how the round tries to penetrate the armor when it actually reaches its target. What about the Russian reactive armor? It creates an explosion upon round impact and tries to deflect the round by doing so. How can the ammunition deal with that? (I'm sure we can not solve this here, such things should still be classified) Or what about the T90s (and maybe also T80) ability to fire guided AT missiles from their barrels? These could fly up and then hit a moving target from the top, like the Hellfire does. Now that would warrent a bonus against armor IMO, but the T90 is already quite strong. And the Russians have so many of them, making them even stronger would not be fun.. for people who usually play EU / Germany / Britain ;)

And the wiki.. I know it has mistakes. But I find articles on major topics of rather good quality. Then main reasons why I use it though are that it's easy to reference and it's very condensed information, it would take much more time to gather such information on other sites. The homepage of McDonnell Douglas / Boing might tell you some technical data of the F18, but would they tell you if some of them had been shot down by Iraqi Mig 25's?

As fast as any addon maker will create such unit I will place it in MaxRigaMod right away :)) But i'm not working on vanilla version any more, so any changes will be in BTS mod version only.
 
I tried to do a LAN with this mod but it crashes right when the game starts. Any ideas as to why? It works fine in single player...

P.S. I was glad to see my guerrilla unit put to good use in your mod :D

yes, Guerrilla is just in the right place and in the right time! :)

I'm playing in Lan and in Multiplayer with my buddies and I have no problems ( finished cold war 1961 scenario just week ago ), but yesterday one of my buddies wanted to join me twice in Stalingrad scenario and crashed, so we didn't play it :( Donno why it's happening sometimes.
