Here is the mod to bring something from Civ 3 back into the Civ 4 game without making major changes to game balance
(generally if something is added, its removed from someplace else).

Comments, bug reports and suggestions are more than welcome. Readme file of release below...

Migo's Classic Style Mod 1.2b (For Civ 4 patch v1.52)
----------------------------
This mod adds classic Civilization 3 style features to Civ 4 making minimal or no
impact to standard Civ 4 balance in process. With this mod railroads once again bring
increased trade and production without debalancing the game, jungles and forests will
take more time to chop down, sending units over oceans earlier is possible (in case of
isolated island starting locations), resources are more critical, tech trading is allowed earlier,
tech tree has also seen some changes to make theology and divine right more intresting and
so on...

INSTALLATION

Unzip package contents into Civilization 4 Mods folder, start the game and laod the mod from
Advanced -> Load a Mod.

1.2b Changes:
- Research speeds and game speeds changed back to normal as patch 1.52 tweaked technology costs
to better balance play than eraly versions (standard GameSpeedInfo.xml used again).
- Mercantilism changed back to standard (+3 gold per specialist was removed)
- Caravel AI strategy modified

1.2a Changes:
- Workers move 1
- Fast Workers move 2
- Settlers move 1
- Clearing Jungle takes now 4 times longer
- Clearing Forest takes now 2 times longer
- Caravels can now carry 2 of any land units
- Caravels cannot enter closed borders territory
- Caravels upgrade to Galleons
- AI Strategy of Caravel changed
- +1 Sea visibility removed from Optics
- +1 Sea visibility added to Astronomy
- Grenadier combat strenght reduced to 10
- Cannon combat strenght reduced to 10
- Axeman Bonus Reduced to +25% vs Melee Units
- Railroads give +1 Commerce to Cottage, Hamlet, Village and Town
- Printing Press no longer gives commerce bonuses (Moved to railroad)
- Paper no longer gives map trading
- Printing press gives map trading
- Reveals Globe revoved from Calendar
- Reveals Globe added to Astronomy
- Writing no longer gives Library
- Writing allows tech trading
- Alphabet gives Library
- Compass not required for Optics
- Compass gives +1 sea movement
- Sailing prereq for Optics
- All units base sea movement reduced by 1

1.1a Changes to vanilla version:
- Uranium available at Fission (CIV4BonusInfos.xml)
- Coal plants require coal to build (CIV4BuildingInfos.xml)
- Nuclear plants require uranium to build (CIV4BuildingInfos.xml)
- Gunships now require aluminium and oil (CIV4UnitInfos.xml)
- Mech Infantry now requires aluminium and oil (CIV4UnitInfos.xml)
- Destroyers require coal or oil (CIV4UnitInfos.xml)
- Transports require coal or oil (CIV4UnitInfos.xml)
- Medicine technology required for Genetics, not Refigeneration (CIV4TechInfos.xml)
- Genetics technology now gives +2 health instead of +3 (CIV4TechInfos.xml)
- Refigeneration technology now gives +1 health (CIV4TechInfos.xml)
- Merchantilism civic now also gives +3 income per specialist in each city (CIV4CivicInfos.xml)
- Organized religion civic moved from Monotheism tech to Theology tech (CIV4CivicInfos.xml)
- Theocracy civic moved from Theology tech to Divine Right tech (CIV4CivicInfos.xml)
- Free speech civic now causes +50% war weariness (CIV4CivicInfos.xml)
- Religion spread rate reduced for older religions to give later discovered religions a change to have some effect on game (CIV4ReligionInfo.xml)
- Chemistry no longer gives +1 production for workshops (moved to railroad improvement) (CIV4ImprovementInfos.xml)
- Replaceable parts no longer gives +1 production for windmills and watermills (moved to railroad improvement) (CIV4ImprovementInfos.xml)
- Railroad improvement now gives +1 production on mines, lumbermills, windmills, watermills and workshops. (CIV4ImprovementInfos.xml)
- Game Epic speed modded to slow down science and increasing turns (CIV4GameSpeedInfo.xml)
