welcome to overlord mod 1.1 (fixed crutial error) .​

what is overlord mod?

i wanted to get out a mod designed for multiplayer games,
without the annoying risk of having oos all the time,
and to try to keep the game with refduced ag - by using speed mod and minimum componants.
so i built this mod, you wont find here elaborate things and tons of stuff,
just my favorite mod componants thats adds alot to the gameplay.
mostly my emphasis is on units, techs, buidings and civics.
ive created many and varied unit classes, so youll have more options when building an army,
my intention - is to keep it simple and not too big of a mod,
the reason - the maf (memory allocation failure) that comes in huge maps,
with a mod that has many many componants in it (from my expirence with my teams great visa expantion pack).

so, i hope you people will enjoy this creation and report me of your mp games,

the more good response i get, ill add more stuff to it (3uu and such) , once i know the mod is stable and working on mp as it should.


so whats inside the box ?

25 nations (added israel and austria - deleted mali for the time being)
religious victory

a really mixed unit/battle gameplay (highly improved rock paper sccisors system with many counter units to units)

**before you download***

read the following:


1.be sure to start a game only through custom game.
2. check the "v" oonly on missiles and range bombardment.
3. do not start a game with stack mod or mad
system options or else it would oos on mp.
4. i will prefect the code later on.

Sounds like an interesting and fun mod. Why do you say "mainly for MP"?
It seems like it would be fun to play this in sp as well. Is it that the AI has problems with some of your add-ons?

Also, the torrent is giving me an error message. It downloads fine, extracts from the zip file okay, but when you try to download, you get a bad file error message.
 
I'm sorry to say this but your game have too many bugs, you just beaten Strategyonly bugs infested games. As soon as I built my ranch... omg my money rised up to the 100K's, and so did my food and my research went into -100K. WTH? as I continue on, I've been having food and money problem. my town went on strike when I have at least -100K... and I slowly decline the ranks...
 
I love the idea for the mod, could not wait to give it a try. I choose Single Player, custom game, all additional enhancements. Some kinda of problem with the ai. I did not experience this myself, but like the above post, the ai was getting pop cities of 50+ in the first 100 turns. Research was also way up. I added a spy from wb. it said for what they where working on -92193213 hammers of x. Where x is base hammer completion for the improvement. I think food was maxed out and they gained a pop. every turn.

hummm......its gotta be that civic thing that i didnt get to chech....
damn....ill have to take the civic system.

ok i started a game..and saw when i can first make a great merchant -it gives me tons of food hammers and money....
so if you guys can confirm that this is the cause for the crazy levels..id be greatfull.

well no doubt - the untested civic system cause the error....i knew i should have kept it simple....
ill take the thing out and public the mod.
edit -
after a few tests, i took out the civics, and everything returned to normal.
ill have a new file version in the coming days - id like to get some more text input -cause some of you out there dont like to see ingame: text_key_bla_bla....

This mod sounds great. Especially SDK components sound nice. I havent played Civ for a while, but this will bring me back. Cant wait to play it. Thank you Keldath :)

Nice, you found the problem. Is it the civics XML or an SDK problem. If it is an SDK problem could you post a fix today. I don't care much about the TXT fixes, but would like to try this mod today.

This also seems to happen when I build some things on a different city when I continue to play, all the sudden I gain a income to 100K to -100K when I gone to that city and start upgrading it.
 
Thank you for your effort in fixing the bug. I played enough last night that I showed up to work late....

Had a CTD though, I tried a reload , and thankfully (for me) it did not work, otherwise it would of been a real drag at work today. But the CTD came again, so I quit. I have a save if you would like it.

I will try again today and see if I can restart 5 turns prior and continue.
 
i would thank you alot if you can provide a save file -
ctd can be caused because of missing art file - probabley a building that the ai buit...

the save would help.

and a missing art bug is save compatible - as soon as you pass me the save - ill make a fix for you to continue your saved game.
