modern naval unit graphic problem

Ok this is a bit strange...

I've had this enemy destroyer prowling my coastline for a while bombarding my city defenses and one time I noticed that the graphic for the destroyer was gone! Just the flag for the unit was in the middle of the ocean but no ship graphic next to it.

Now I just built my first battleship and went to sink an enemy frigate and the weirdest thing happens.. my ship approaches and then it starts drifting backwards... backwards... farther and farther... oh there it goes off the screen. Leaving only my flag in the ocean next to the remaining enemy ship.

I captured some shots of my battleship drifting away from the battle off the edge of the screen leaving an empty flag in the ocean tile where the ship atacked from:

Oh wow check this out!

I go back to tending to my city on that island in the screen shot and then suddenly I see a battleship floating over the land next to my cities! I soon realize this is MY battleship and it actually drifting around the globe and came back to rest where the flag is! LOL!
