But can you give it a real paradrop animation? Is it possible to take the animation of the paratrooper from BTS and give it your new cool unit?

As I see you made a Marine Paratrooper with paradrop animation! :eek: Can you animate this unit too, please. :goodjob:

Call me old fashioned (which I am), I am happy playing the original version but am not opposed to updating the units. Will your Parra units work with the original??(pre BTS)
 
this particular unit will work with any version of Civ4.
but when i add paradrop animations, it will only work with BtS. But this unit will stay unmodified, i will make a whole new unit and thread for the version that has the animations :)
 
Hey this model is perfect for a special forces unit, and am using it as such. Unfortunately it does not have paradrop animations, any chance someone with the skillz could update the .kfm to include paradrops?

Yes I know garret did a new modern paratrooper with paradrop animations, but it's not as good of a model for spec ops...

That's a negative... What I desire is the Navy Seal goggles, and a modern rifle...

you can even reskin and reequip this guy to suit your needs
Not really, I would need to spend days learning this art stuff, that doesn't interest me in the slightest, aesthetics really aren't an issue to me. I only want it to make the mod look better for others, if I was creating it just for myself I'd be fine using a placeholder graphic... Further this is the last unit, or unit art related thing on the docket, I can't see adding anything else comparable that would require learning unit modeling. Spec Ops is the only unit left that has substandard unit art, and that's minor as well, it's just a lack of paradrop animations, the model itself looks great. I'm not about to spend hours or days learning a skill that doesn't interest me to fix a minor issue with a model. I'm hoping someone will come along, and go, oh yeah, that model garret did looked good, but it does need paradrop animations included, and set that up, so I as well as others can use it. But if not, that's just how it goes, and the spec ops model for Bronze Steam and Tears, just wol't paradrop with animations (instead it just apears on the tile you paradrop on).
 
I know I put this in another thread but, In the Heroes mod I posted a while back, there is a model I use for the Special Forces unit.

Its a reskin of the Navy Seal, with a modified helmet (which can be removed).
Anyway, my point was I rigged the Navy Seal's animation to include the Paradrop, and I added the Parachute to the Seal's model. He does the Paradrop animation and such, no problems there.

there is 1 minor problem. The parachute is missing from the animation. It eludes my ability at the moment.

Darn, had me going there... I guess I just don't see the point in updating a unit model that is missing an animation for one that has a non functional animation :p

Hopefully a skilled modeler will come along and fix these animations for me and you and anyone else who would put it to good use too :deal:

EDIT:The polygon count is fairly high for a foot unit; but it is still below you 2000 poly limit; it is around 1964 (if i recall correctly).

If you really want, i could make an African version by using the African Commando marine type unit.


And i could use a Buddhist Missionaries head for an asia-type one.


EDIT: i could even use Zerver's modern unit packs to adapt to the para's kfm, if he says its fine.
