Hello everyone, I'm new to this forum and this is my first post so If I break any protocol I'm sorry :)

I've 2 questions and before asking them I made some research on various post here.

1) I've created a game with 32,700 squares and I'd like to edit the terrain for various reasons but each program I tried ask my to convert my .sav to .mp and with Civ2map I can edit the terrain easily BUT now how can I take this .mp (modified) and re-enter it to the .sav ?

2) I would like to custom my game a little bit with few .gif custom made units that I found on this website, how can I introduce them on the game? is it possible to edit the scientific tree with new advance tech? how can we add propriety to each new unit?

I've tried to find a guide or something BUT without any success.

Thanks for your help

These questions are more appropriate for the scenario creation forum. I know using the cheat menu you can change the terrain of any tile but the interface is cumbersome. Furthermore, you cannot add rivers. You cannot go from a .mp (map) to a saved game as far as I know.

You can do that with MapCopy.

You can add/edit units and their properties in rules.txt. The cells in units.gif correspond to the rows in the @UNITS table. The maximum number of units you can use depends on which version of Civ2 you're using, ie, classic: 54, FW & MGE: 62, ToT: 80.

You can have up to 100 techs in Civ2. These are also edited in rules.txt, under @CIVILIZE. Note that many have hard-coded properties. See here for versions up to MGE and here for ToT. You will also need to ensure that everyone can reach Future Technology, so run Mercator's Civ2Tech utility (attached) on the rules file when you're done to check its validity.

Remember, if you're editing the main game files, back them up first.
