Sup guys. So I've gotten pretty far in Civ IV and have researched nukes, but one thing that bothers me is that one you research nukes all of your neighbors automatically have access to them as well. In my opinion, I think this is pretty stupid because you spend all this time researching nukes only to have your neighbors get a free ticket to them. My question is how can I modify Civy IV so that my neighbors to get a free ticket to this technology. Also, how can I modify the nukes so the blast radius is more realistic!! :D

Blast radius is found in the Civ4UnitInfos.xml file in the ICBM's info <nukerange></nukerange> paramiters...

The other issue with the manhattan project that was in civ3 as well. To change it you would have to track down where the ICBMs and the Manhattan Project link up and make the changes to suit your needs. You'd actually have to read the XML and track it down.

I personally like the free unlock as i usually never build the Manhattan Project myself. If an AI doesn't build it I might but otherwise i wait :P

I think it would be good to have the other civs only get it after X years or so, so that the builder gets a head start in the nuke department

Ok. So I went into the xml file unitinfo.xlm or whatever its called and there are several entries for nukerange which all have -1 as the value. What do I need to change to make the range bigger and more realistic??

You have to find the one for the ICBM unit and change that one... every unit will have a nukerange field... the -1 means it has no nuclear properties. 0 means the blast only hits the target square, 1 for the target +8 squares around it. 2 is the same as an expanded city area (target city and hit every tile a city can work) and so on.

How about the first to build the Manhatton Project gets a free ICBM? :D The theory being that to complete research on nuclear weapons would involve building one.
