2. Is it okay for me to start a thread in one CFC forum in order to advertise someone else's thread in another CFC forum?

3. Is it okay for me to start a thread in one CFC forum in order to advertise a thread of mine on another forums site?

4. Is it okay for me to start a thread in one CFC forum in order to advertise someone else's thread on another forums site?

Looks like no, no, no, no to me, but only Thunderfall is all knowing.

BUT, your can ask the forum moderator (pm is best) for an exception if you think it will be a service to the posters of the forum. Eg. linking to a very good thread on another site about to install and patch game under on winXP, or how to fix a particular device/program conflict.

Note how in the smac forum I have permitted (and made sticky) a thread linking to a player matching service at another site, because we have no such service avaible at our forum.

I saw this just as I was leaving for a meeting, and didn't get the chance to reply until now. And yes, the answers, IMO, are no, no, no, and no. But exceptions can be made. Like Lefty said, just PM me and/or Chieftess, and if we think it's deserving, we will allow it.

BTW: the sig link is almost always a safe bet.

Just to clarify, the reason I was asking is that some newbies over at CFC are posting works in the User Created Maps and Completed Scenarios forums and then starting a thread in the main C&C to announce them. And it's pissing me off. I take it that's not allowed, then?

Generally speaking, it's not allowed.

When I catch them, I close them, and PM/email the starters. Usually they are conciliatory, and accept the limits as explained, although occasionally one will get stubborn.
