Mods not working with Steam

I recently bought civilization 4 and expansions. Love the game. I really want to download some of the mods. Well I did like Earth 2011/modern day. It just crashes after 10-20 secs

Help?

Do you have any xml or python file in CustomAssets folder? some of the mods will crash if there any file exist in that folder.
Also check your mod folder, found file named "[mod name].ini" and change NoCustomAssets=0 to NoCustomAssets=1.
