No.Dice
Warlord
Which of the two do you prefer and why? At what point in the game do you usually switch out of Despotism?
I've chosen the Republic route in all of my games, not really aware if i was missing out on anything in Monarchy.
Monarchy comes slightly before Republic, but usually i'm in no hurry to change governments due to the advantage of rush building with pop in despotism.
Monarchy provides resource support for your units, while being a Republic usually gives you enough gold to still come out slightly ahead after paying for their support. The extra commerce allows this.
Republic offers lower corruption.
Monarhy offers the option of military police, but i seldom need it. Luxaries and the token entertainer keep the mob happy.
You have to deal with war weariness under Republic.
Examining the AI in past games they seem to either all choose Monarchy, or all Republic.
I'm rather new to the civ series, anything i missed?
Thanks
