I was watching Monty Python and the Holy Grail yesterday, and during the part with the black knight, the fighting sounds are exactly like the ones in civ2! Has anyone noticed that?

Wait, I've seen the Holy Grail countless times and I don't recall this. Besides, which sounds do you say are being used? The sound when an archer or legion attacks?

Yes its true. You're not the first to notice that.I guess there is some sort of "bank" of sounds and other effects used by those that have need for such things.

They got the cheering sound that appears when an improvement is built by hanging around outside my front door

They could have taped it from one the the TV documentaries on Nuclear weapons. Or maybe taped the real thing when the U.S. was still testing.....

This happened to me in SimCity as well. The police station sound appeared on World's Wildest Police Chases in the background of one of the introduction parts.

I have a demo of a game called "Divided Ground" about the Israeli conflicts. The sounds in that game are identical with many from Civ2...

Hmm after I read your post I immediately searched for my "Monthy Python" tape and after hours found it what a surprise was very fast considering my organized chaos :)

And jup you're right sounds like it. Might be a slight sign we are addicted to Civ. Always comparing everything we see to Civ. ;)

I noticed it, and posted it last year on this very forum...it blew me away.

Likewise Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation has a shared sound effect: during a cut scene regarding the Tomb of Seht, a civ 2 combat sound can be heard.

I would say that all these entertainments are drawing from a common stock of sound FX CDs:cool:
