I just started a game of MOO with the Meklar on Impossible/3 opponents/small. My opponents: Psilons, Klackons, and Humans. Ouch! I figured that this is going to be a really tough game, but I should at least try it.

Then my colony ship gets to the only planet within 3 parsecs of me... and it's a 95 population Terran Ultra Rich! I can't remember ever seeing a planet this good! I feel like it's incredibly rare to see an Ultra Rich on a non-hostile environment in the first place, let alone a 95 pop Terran. I'm the Meklar, so this is going to be the most productive colony ever. This game doesn't seem so hard anymore.

What's the best planet you've ever had for your first colony ship (and in the case of an Artifacts planet, count the tech you've received from it)?
What about the best planet you've ever seen, period? I think this is both.

It is good to know you can see those things. Not sure if I have or not, do not trust my memory on that sort of thing. I have seen planets get the event that turns them into rich planets and they were terran.

Update: this game was pretty easy, especially considering that it both was my first time playing a non-Psilon/Klackon race on Impossible and my first time playing against the Psilons on Impossible. The Psilons were the closest other race to me, so they were annihilated around turn 50. My first time playing against the Psilons on Impossible and they only lasted 50 turns :)

Not a single planet, but a cluster. Examples:

1. Four planets, each within 2 - 3 parsecs from one another. Something like .... i) Barren, 40 Pop, Ultra-Rich; ii) Toxic, 30 Pop, Ultra-Rich; iii) Arid, 65 Pop, Rich; iv) Tundra, 20 Pop, Ultra-Rich. (Because all of them were pretty close to each other, they were much easier to defend against uninvited guests.)

2. Three planets, each within 2 - 3 parsecs from one another. Something like .... i) Terran, 120 Pop, Fertile; ii) Ocean, 80 Pop; iii) Terran, 85 Pop, Artifact. (I happened to find this cluster in a game in which my home planet was located pretty darn close to it. They respectively became my #2, #3, then #4 colonies. Made my early game considerably easier.)
