More Marijuana fun

Speaking of these hash brownies or whatever you call them, what are they? Do they look like hash browns? Do you eat them?

Hash is the concentration of the resin glands. The euros tend to use the word as a catch all for weed. Weed brownies are just regular ones with weed added like you'd add chocolate chips ........ mmmmmmmmmm chocolate chips.

So you can eat weed? It gives you a high in that manner too?

As long as you ingest it you will get high. Not sure about suppositories. Eating will actually get you higher because of little waste from smoke. Its not yummy and hard to eat raw.

I didn't know that. :)

So why would people eat hash brownies if they're not yummy and hard to eat raw? Do they heat the seeds in the brownies? Or do they let the heat of the brownies transfer to the seeds to make it more palatable?

it has to be heated before, else you wont have much of an effect.
that's why you bake brownies in the first place...

Conflicting stories! So you mean if I just ate a bunch of seeds I wouldn't get high?

That's not exactly true. when I was growing my own and curing and drying them I would have lots of resin on my hands and scrape it into a pile then suck on it and got high. No heating before. I've also eaten raw weed and gotten high. It just takes longer to kick in and lasts longer by the way its metabolized into the system

it does have an effect, but there should be a lot of thc that never gets set free without first heating it...

Brownies are easy to eat. weed isn't that's why they make it into brownies. ;) Seeds are good for growing. They have no discernible amount of THC and unless you are planting them or making oil to cook with its pretty much trash.

great, now i have to search the web and have no idea what key words to use to show you i'm right... :)

Oh, you put weed into the brownies? You cook them? Or do you lace them in there raw? You mean like leaves and things like that?

If you make oil out of the seeds, will that have the THC that gets people high? Or is it like regular oil?

THC, the main psychoactive chemical found in cannabis along with all the others, is soluble in non-polar liquids - bet you never knew that! What this means is that you can extract it into fats, oils and alcohol but not into water, in English, it doesn't dissolve in water but does dissolve into fats and oils ... or alcohol.

apparently it's not the heating but the dissolving that's important. hence butter and yoghurt... makes sense...

Dude... you do realize you're asking questions about how to make weed brownies, right? You might be a bit more careful... just saying :)

I'm gonna have to disagree with you there. "Hash" is specifically stuff sold in cubes/lumps which have to be toasted over a flame and crumbled.

"Skunk" is by far more common.

I just want to know what goes into these mythical weed brownies I heard people eat in Amsterdam. I never ever want to do recreational drugs in my life though. :)

no leaves... someone wants to sell you leaves, well... he knows what he's doing, but dont buy it.

its either buds, resin or oil.

The cooking does something called decarboxylation. Now, I'm not a chemist, I'm just an ex-pothead, so I don't really understand the intricacies, but the gist is that there are carboxyl groups attached to the "good stuff", the psychoactive cannabinoids (including the well-known THC). The carboxyl groups make the material non-psychoactive. When you cook the dope, the carboxyls "boil off" (again, not a chemist) and leave behind the "good stuff" which is now psychoactive. When you smoke the dope, obviously it's hot enough to cause that reaction.

I believe that only some of the "good stuff" is bound like that, and that if you ate enough raw bud you'd notice an effect, but I"m not certain.

Seeds don't have any useful amount of psychoactive material in them. They've got oil in them that is very nutritious - the fatty acids in the oil are quite good for you.

THC and the rest of the "good stuff" isn't soluble in water. People often make "bud butter" because the "good stuff" is soluble in fats. You don't need to dissolve the "good stuff" for it to be active, though.

Bioavailibility - whether the amount of the drug you consume actually gets you high - is similar for eaten and smoked pot. (It's different for some drugs, which is the reason you don't eat cocaine.)
