While looking over the multiplayer.it images, did you catch a key thing with the air unit.

Offensive Power 0
Bombard Power 8

The big question is what is the game implications of this? Can you kill a unit with just Bombard? If not, then Air will be a very different feature in the game.

Will early November hurry up and get hear! That is when my copy should arrive :)

I doubt they will be able to kill units off. Real life it hard to kill off everything from the air.

If they are going down the same road as CTP2 then bombers can easily kill a unit when they are grouped together. When I used to play CTP2 I generally had groups of about 5 bombers that could easily destroy a fortified unit.

Realism-wise, I think it'd make great sense if bomber strikes worked like SMAC artillery (just like Civ3 artillery works too if I've got that right). I don't think there's any example in history of the defenders of a city being wiped out by airstrikes allowing enemy groundsloggers to march in unopposed, yet that is common enough in Civ2.

Perhaps they will be able to target specific buildings. After all, the strategic bombing of vital industries is, in most cases, the reason for attacking cities from the air. If it's not a city that's the target, however, they would probably act like SMAC artillery.

I'm sure that you will be able to use your bombers to take out specific improvements. Since diplomats and spy’s are out of the game this will be the only way to get your opponent weakened before you hit them with ground troops…;)

Funny how the screenshots are at multiplayer.it.. when it has no mp :( doh!

Look at this image below...

Looks to me like it's a stealth FIGHTER and a stealth BOMBER (modeled after the F117 and B2)

From the info out there it looks like SAMs and your standard fighter (in scramble/defense mode) will be very effective at protecting your airspace vs. standard fighters and bombers. Stealth planes will be MUCH more successful at evading detection.

Will be interesting to see if a plane can truly destroy a unit or only damage it.

I'm also curious to see if the first aircraft available will be propeller driven or if we will jump straight to jetpower.

Hopefully the way its modeled is that the fighters scramble to intercept other fighters and bombers. Fighters should have great effectiveness against tanks and the like but very poor effectiveness vs. troops. Bombers should be the opposite and have the added bonus of being able to use smart weapons vs city structures. I would like to see the option of attacking a city's industry (turn penalty of a percentage of shield production) we will just have to see.

Maybe one will be a tactical bomber and the other one will be for a attack bomber

I am a genius !:jesus:

With only 60+ units in the game it is doubtful that they have much more than 2 sets of fighter/bombers. One conventional and one stealth pair. I am hopeful that they also have a propeller driven fighter and perhaps a torpedo bomber (or B52) so that we get 3 sets (+1 unique for the U.S. the F15) Curious to see is we get the Apache and troop chopper (Blackhawk?)

The french Rafale : r-m01 rules :rocket:

I think that all the civilizations ( or nations for those who care about ) will have one special unit for air, ground and sea at different times (ex: modern time).
What do you think about that poeple :king:
