I enjoy starting a game on a huge map, pissing off every civ, and starting world wars. If you do it right, you can get the other guys to beat themselves senseless while you reap the benefits! hehe
It is very enjoyable to watch your neighbors trek across your empire to go to war with eachother, and meet in the middle, so you can watch as they weaken eachother... and if one seems to get the upper hand, give it's opponent a Right of Passage to even things up aagain.
But my absolute favorite part is using samauri to take out weakened and injured riflemen... nothing like it.
Like what most people say- it's definetly the cultural borders and resource management that are the best things about Civ III. Nothing better than being twice as large as another nation but they have the oil you want so you go to war with them so you can secure that resource. Ahhh stupid Persians, should have just given me the city...
i think i like gaining cities without fighting but i think i like the diplomatic junk you can do like causeing a massive war between every country in the world over one little piece of land

Agreed. Especially when you consider most wars were fought over resources.
It definately adds another dimension fighting for resources. It's an aspect of the game that is so right that it should always have been there in civ1 and civ2.
