most important city improvent

My favorite improvement is Superhighways. Just love all the extra trade they bring in. The first improvement I build is almost always the temple, gotta have them at diety level. The marketplace is a close second unless an AI civ is close and I need barracks to get veteran units to conduct a war.

The wait for Offshore Platforms is always long because it turns weak coastal cities into production powerhouses. Bottom line, the build order is not really related to my favorite improvement. Build improvements as they become available and as needed. The favorite is just the one I think is the neatest!!

I think the most important improvement is the City Walls. The fact that there is no upkeep makes them worthwhile as well as the defensive factor against those raging barbs.

If this were a poll, and I had to vote for my one, all-time, single most important and useful improvement, I would choose the Factory. When I discover Industrialization (and all my Galleons are upgraded to Transports with LW :goodjob: ), I shift a lot of cities into Factory production. More factories = more production capacity = more units = more ways to stay in the AI's face until I can reduce their civ to rubble! :mwaha:

With the extra production, a happiness improvement can be easily added to make my Power Democracy keep going, and going, and going... <insert Energizer Bunny smilie here>

Only rarely does a barb actaully get a shot at my city. When they do, it is often defended with a Diplomat, or Caravan. Walls won't help me too much. I like to get to Mobile Warfare, & get rid of those sneaky Sea Barbs... then you don't need to defend most cities at all.
