One question to you all...

Does anyone has ever completed a game of civ with a modified scenario with added units and civs?

I for example played a scenario with Spain and Israel included and with lots of new units.

Everything went ok, until somewhere far in the game (1700) the game crashes.

What could this be?

It happened a lot of times and now I am getting tired of playing the game.

Please react

I have the feeling such a game is doomed to crash and we are forced to play the game as firaxis wants us to.

My leaderpictures work fine, the citynames of the added civs are enough, the units were all tested thoroughly before being used, I used Montezuma's diplomacytext so no problems with diplomacy, ect... ect,.. ect.... and STILLLLLL

it crashes....

I hate this

How did you install the units? Did you follow the recommended steps: putting things in a number of different files for the units? This is one of the more common ones.

The game crashes due to an inadequate Editor.

The reason?? If you do such as add (by hacking), or simply rename units, you have to take the tedious time of working on the Arts folder's Units folders. Each unit has to have art and sound files, and appropriately tinkered .ini files. It is esoteric and a pain.

But if you want to see what I have for a mod I am attaching it below. Now, unzipping this may not effect the Units folders (I'm not sure), but this mod never crashes for me due to appropriate changes in the Arts/Units folders.

Is this a pain? You bet. :(

Thank you Zuave for your honest and direct reaction.

I will have a look at your bic file and try to learn from your example.

Thanks.

Hello Kring!

Thanks for your reply.

Yes I had attentively and thoroughly worked on the concerned files, and I do remember some units not working properly (no sound, etc.., like the beautiful but mostly soundless units of Jimmyh)

I wouldnt want to miss them though...

Hello,

I also have this problem with my Game. I tried to check it with Civ3 Multi Tool. But I couldn't find a unit/improvement that wasn't build before, so what is causing the crash I don't know.

So if anyone has a way of checking this. I be very interested.

Thanks

Hi alireza1354,

you have to the check the latest saved turn with Civ3 Multi tool and see of any of the Civilizations is building a unit or improvement which hasn't been built before. When this is the case change it to another unit/improvement. You then know what unit/improvement is causing the crash. You now can play further, it is possible that have to repeat this several times, because the AI wants to build the bad unit again. If you also experience a crash later on in the game with another unit. Try to find a common thing between both units.

Good luck.

Hello Springsteen!

Where can I get this multitool and how should I use it?

This sounds promising :)

Thanks!
