The question is, what is a day and a night? Is it set to GST or something? That makes it harder to do, because for midnight for GST is only 4PM for me. And it'd hold a lot less users as well if there was a particular time frame for day and night (I mean as in how many users logged in today)

I would assume the day is determined by GMT (Greenwhich Mean Time). That's the time that is displayed when one is browsing the forums, and is not logged in.
