Motorized Transportation Crash???

Hi all,

I recently purchased Civilization3-Complete to play on my Vista OS laptop. I purchased the game through Steam, and played a game with Americans all the way till the end with no problems. I try on the Chinese for my 2nd and 3rd games, but whenever I have 1 turn left on the "Motorized Transportation" tech, the game crashes [A problem has caused the program to close]. It's always 1 turn before I complete that technology.

In fact, later I tried to go back to my American game where I actually researched it fine....I couldn't--the game ends up crashing to desktop.

Is there some way I can either 1, fix this, or 2, get rid of that technology either entirely or as a prerequsite for the Modern Age? I don't usually build tanks and panzers anyway--go straight to Modern Armor

I've never heard of or experienced that bug before. You need to reinstall the game. Some file didn't download or install correctly.

Yeah this game as been unchanged for years and that is a new one on me, so ti is likey a corrupt or missing file. Does it give you a msg saying missing UNIT...... If so then the pediacon.txt is not correct.

I asked Steam to verify the game cache files and it found four files missing. Later the program reacquired the missing files and now the game runs fine. Thanks for the help!
