Stopping the crossing of mounatins is simply ********. I see the reason for great impedement but even in ancient times fighting and crossing over mountains is possible. They should bring back the river bonus, where river are like roads. Not being able to cross Mountains just adds unnecessary complications to a game.

in mountain ranges they will just have to use hills as valleys and mountain passes.

What's so confusing about it? IMHO many of the major things we've heard are actually done to simplify it and make it easier to play.
It can't be that confusing to know that mountains are impassable. Either it somehow really is, or you're just setting your mind to hate it even before anyone has played it.
