Hi there again.

To help out as much as I can instead of mouthing off I thought I would post this fix (It works for me) for the movies which for me would stutter, or even cause problems enough to have me reboot my system.

In the FAQ it mentions changing your AGP apeture size to 256 in your Bios.

I personally wouldn't go that high simply because for this game it may work great, but for other games it can actually lower your system preformance.

Anyway, most if not all bios for AGP start at 64 for apeture size, do what the FAQ suggests (to a small degree). The movies are smooth as silk now, no more stuttering.

I did however also enabled the save memory (alt-tab) by changing this from 0 to 1 in your "civilizationIV.ini" file.

So where is this INI file? Look below.

C:\Documents and Settings\<your username>\My Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4

PLEASE DO NOT screw with your BIOS unless you are use to poking around in it...I'm only telling you what has worked for me.

Chat later, and hope this helps a little bit.

:)

I think increasing the AGP size indirectly affects the video because it allows more bandwidth to process the 3D background quicker. You can increase the AGP up to 512mb on some systems but the amount you can increase by is dependant on the size of the RAM. That's why it might slow other games down.

I just turned off the AA in the video card control panel as well as changing the 'image quality' down to 'Performance'. Also, in the ini file knock down the video to 16-bit and turn on screenshots. Worked for me anyway.
