Alright, so I was doing a little thinking last night, and I came up with a great idea for a multi-player, builder-oriented civ game last night.
If anyone here has ever played the old DOS game colonization, (and since this is the CFC forums, I'm going to guess most of you have...) you'll know what I'm talking about.
We use the new "Terra" map, which puts all civs on one continent (the "Old World") and creates another big, empty continent (the "New World") off to the side. There are about as many AI civs are there are human.
There is only one special rule to this game, and that is that Human players may take no agressive agtion against other Human players on the main continent. The new world, naval combat, offshore islands, or AI players are all legetimate targets.
This makes for a much more builder oriented game at the beginning, with only conflict vs the AI and lots of diplomacy with other human players. Right up until Optics and Astronomy, when there is a huge race to the new world, where you CAN fight other players. Also, by this time, there is a significant barbarian presence in the new world, with size 6 cities, tile improvement, workers and all sorts of things for those of a military mind.
I've played one game of this so far, and it's the most fun I've had in a multi-player game, bar none.
Right now, I'm looking for interested players to start up a game of this, either saturday night (10/29) or sunday (10/30) I'd like 3 other players for a normal size map, or 3-5 for a large map. Ideally, we'll play for a substantial amount of time, about 8-10 hours, although we can take breaks and, if nessecary, save and continue at some other time.
So, who's interested in this new variant? Also, if anyone has any suggestions on other special rules for this, feel free to suggest them. anyone interested can post here, or IM me, I'm usually on.
