I have loved Civilization games for a long time now. I also feel the attempt to keep a realistic interpretation of historical events and civilizations has broken the overall balance of the game. Many of the races I would not have even considered playing because the racial bonuses were so terrible. I have used many mod packs over the years and greatly anticipated the day when these mods were available for Multiplayer as I do little gaming alone. Now that it has been two expansions, many DLC's and still Mods do not work in Multiplayer, I have finally taken matters into my own hands.
Over the last several months I have taken many of my favorite Mod ideas and created my own that works for Multiplayer. You have to manually install it and overwrite Civ5 files (works even with Steam), but it is a small price to pay for what it gives. There are detailed instructions in the download ss well as details of exactly what this Mod changes. There are a great many minor balance changes but the largest change is that I have updated and tested the Racial bonuses of all 41 races (Including those added by stand alone DLC's).
Please note that many of the changes are not completely original ideas and were first implemented by other content creators. I do not want to steel anyone's thunder. I simply made this Mod for me and my friends, however it turned out so amazing that I felt I really had to share my work this time. I work full time for a corporation and own a small business and am not looking for another job maintaining this Mod, however if there is something that is broken I will take a look at fixing it. Feel free to use whatever you can learn from this Mod in creating your own with my blessing.
