Multiplayer Connection Problems

Hi

We have the following setup:

2 laptops (vista, comodo internet secutiry)
1 wireless router (linksys)
2 installations of Alpha Centaurie with 4.0 patch & xp compatability

Alpha Centauri works on both machines, is stable etc.

One person hosts an TCP/IP game, the other joins.
One is able to see the hosted game, but after joining it something goes wrong.
The host's game freezes, and after a moment a dialog box claiming that "No Message could be sent" after that terran.exe chrashes.
The joining players game doesn't freeze, but after a while reports a loss of connection.

We added terran.exe to Comodo's list of trusted programs, so it shouldn't block any connection attempts. Windows firewall is also unblocked.

So anybody any idea how to solve this problem?

Thanks in advance
Wieke.

Wieke, I don't know whether you're still around on this forum, but the problem you're experiencing is because Comodo blocks DirectPlay packets.

To stop it doing that, either set the firewall security level to disabled while you play or open Comodo and go to the firewall tab then Advanced > Attack Detection Settings > Miscellaneous. Then untick "Block Fragmented IP Datagrams".

For more help, I wrote a guide here.

But you might be able to get away without installing Hamachi, it depends.
