Multiplayer games take too much time!

So, i have try to play mp games, but never really played any of them in to end. Usually i just play about 6 player games, small or standard map. Still the games takes many hours. So how should i suppose play these mp games.

Even 2vs2 or 3vs3 takes usually 5+ hours. I just played 7 players game, 2 civilizations were destroyed in 6 hours. Then i leave, i didnt want use my whole day to one game.

So in single player my games usually takes more then 10 hours, but i save. I play about 2 hours per time usually.

Even 1vs1 games take many hours and its not fun. Civ ideas is to get big empire, not just rush and attack directly. Its not fun.

So do you usually play multiplayer and finish the games? Do you use whole day just to one game?

Best way i have found is that i know all the player, like friends, so i can save the game and continue it later.

Its pity that, so great game, but multiplayer cannot be played.

It shouldn't take you 7 hours to play a 6 player pangaea FFA. I played one last night that took 3 hours and ended in the modern era. Do you use a turn timer and quick speed?

Yeah, ofcourse, Blazing turn timer and quick speed.

My online games usually take about 2 max 3 hours. Fair enough, they are usually over at 1500 AD , but still. I hardly ever get to modern eras, especially in team games. Or is that because I'm so warmongery myself?

Don't play pitboss. Online you get to play much more moves, learning way faster.

I don't think it's a matter of him learning. It's a matter of him having the time to play a multiplayer game without sitting in front of his computer for hours at a time.

Civ 4 MP takes more time then other games. Its just the way its played.
I also play starcraft and a game there last for 25 minutes. Its just what kind of speed you prefer. Civ 4 is more for the longlast gamer.

be hard pressed to find any civ games that make it past turn 100 on mplayer anyway. games are decided before gunpowder. its more whoever can build the first axe.
