multiplayer issues (direct ip)

hi,
im trying to play a 3 player multiplayer game with some mates and we can get 2 people to connect to a game without any trouble. but upon the 3rd person joining the game crashes for everyone except the host. we have tried letting different people be the host but everytime the 3rd player tries to join the game will crash for the 2 non-hosting players. we are running the 1.61 patch (latest) and are connecting via direct ip.

any suggestions on getting it to work?

But for me and my friends it happens on the 4th login. I can host just fine, 2 friends can join but as soon as the 3rd person joins (doesn't matter which of us is the 3rd or hosting) then everyone except the host gets dumped out of the game.

The only way around it we've found is to have everyone disconnect their router and connect to theinternet directly. So it appears it's a router/game issue.
