If you bought the "Campaign Edition" from the Mac App Store, Internet multiplayer is not a feature of that version (primarily due to developer terms & conditions imposed by Apple). Online multiplayer in Civ is managed by Steam, and Apple will not allow online multiplayer in games in the App Store unless it is managed by Game Center. To make up for that, Aspyr includes some DLC in that version that you'd normally have to pay for.
If you bought the Steam version (which is, really, any version you buy outside of the Mac App Store), then.. I'm not sure. You're up to date - I just checked my own version number to make sure.
