Hi there... recently getting into more civ4 again

ive been playing more and more immortal games to keep the challenge up, its not much different than emperor, just more of a pain. have to whip extra cats, and pay attention more to specializing cities properly

one of the things i have noticed that seems very different between emp/imm though is religions.

often times on emperor theres 5 other civs usually 3 religions spread amongst them, but the last 3 games i played on immortal, all but 1 civ is the same religion, it spreads alot faster i guess because of the extra production or roads or something, this is causing me to switch to a religion more often than i used to... But it always seems im just a few votes shy of the diplo win when they call for a vote.

as a rule will the ai even call for a vote if it knows it wont win? and 2nd... how come people at pleased will still abstain :(

question #2

CR2 cats > Barrage cats?

before someone links me to the 19 topics about this, i have read some of them, but id just like to reassure myself, In vanilla i usually had cr cats, because they could win lol, but just when i started to build more and more barrage cats, for what i knew would be suicide barrage missions on top defenders, i read this thread about how barrage is broke. As a rule... in cat type wars, how many Barrage2 cats do you build compared to Cr2 cats? 1/10?

and lastly... as i play more imm games im noticing that score is not going up much :(, if i play like rome i bet i could run over everyone quickly and be done with it, but with regular civs it seems like the wars take so much longer my economy is more stunted than on emperor, takes me a bit longer to get to cuirs for the cleanup/milking

thoughts?

Well the questions you're asking are maybe easy for someone to explain in 1 sentence, but most of these topics had already been covered - so why not link you these?
Is barrage broken?
CR vs barrage test

I could read all of that again to find or compose simple answer for your specific questions, but you have search functions & google as well. I know these answers are here somewhere.

I think you worry about that score too much, if you read links I gave you about milking you'd know it could change your game completely. So read them and apply those strategies.

well i wanted to hear it again i guess Oo

also, i went through like 15 pages of that stuff but after reading lots of peoples meandering tests it got boring. I find no need to analyze hundreds/thousands of data points...to come to the same conclusion I already use, or that someone else has come to through hard work. Unfortunately their "summary and conclusion" section was just as boring. Cr is what i usually do but no reason not to check again.

As for the "milking" score, i dont remember you have linked me to anything. I dont intentionally milk games via sushi or anything like that, but i DO care, if i move up in difficulty and play the same map/speed/# of civs, id like to see an increase in score. No reason not to take 67% of all the land 90% of the pop, and then get them to vassal that turn before i get the domination. I like high scores :(

as for the religion thing, it seems almost impossible for me to get one, this game im i now, everyone was buddhist by 2000bc or close lol... even with shaka at pleased, and survayaman at pleased they both declared on me in what seemed to be a coordinated attack, anyway, it still seems theres no chance for diplo wins when its games with people like shaka/julius/khan and whatever expansionist type people, even at friendly they dont vote for me :(

I did link you about milking in your "Help with raising my high score :P" thread;

I don't know much about religion & diplo, can't help you there :p

Edit: I think HoF games are ones you should be looking at for high scores, I saw ppl talking about millions and stuff

Edit2: Best short answer about cats is: It's situational. Suggestion: don't promote you units in advance - if you face AI's SoD in open field use barrage and when attacking cities use CR first to soften top defender(s), then barrage - when odds for barrage units are high enough.
