1) Which civilization do you think is the best for militaristic purposes? I think Japan as a solid choice but the one I'm using in my current game of Civ is Mongolia... I managed to invade 3 city states early on with a force that normally wouldn't have got the job done. Then I went south and got Polynesia, which was apparently the only other civ on the continent. Now I'm disappointed because the only way I can invade other civs is by crossing the ocean, which is riskier and/or harder than going on land. So my question is, which Civ do you think is the best for invading? There are several possible candidates including but not limited to:
A: Japan
B: China
C: Mongolia
D: Denmark (Vikings)
E: Germany
F: Ottomans
and France doesn't have a Unique ability that gives them a military edge, but they do have a really good Unique Unit IMO. 20% bonus on foreign lands is really good for invading.
2) My last game of Civ was a total debacle, and I have to say it was my fault. I was playing as Korea, with the intention of using their Unique ability to stay ahead in techs. However, I neglected to build science buildings and science wonders in the capital, and as a result I got behind India. I had most of the continent I was on, only Polynesia and India were left, and I had captured the Polynesian capital. However France and India declared war on me at the same time (France was on a different continent) and France's Foreign legions kicked my butt, and India had artillery and infantry while I had riflemen and cannon. So they obviously won. I just wanted to share this story with others, just so you know: no matter how much land you have, you can still get owned! I had more land than India, but they had more techs. And France was just as big, and even though they were on a different continent, their Foreign Legions could wipe out my infantry (yes I eventually got them) easily.
3) Discuss Civ AI's that you think are over or underpowered. The number one Civ that stands out to me is Polynesia. They... suck. I hate to admit that, because I think they're a cool civ, and plus I paid for them on DLC. But yeah, in the two games I've had with Polynesia, I could beat them, or did. The first game the only reason I didn't wipe out Polynesia was because India got in the way. Second game I did wipe them out, and easily.
In my last two games, England has been underpowered. With my game as Korea which I've already mentioned, I've invaded them, they were relatively weak. This last game I invaded them even easier. And overpowered: France. It wasn't just my game with Korea that France kicked butt... (they were the leader in the score and they had foreign legions) but in my current game with Japan, they're second in the score (I'm first).
I'm not sure why France does so well. Their Unique ability is pretty average in my opinion, and while Foreign Legions kick butt, they don't come until later in the game, and they're doing really well even though it's the year 1665. I'm glad France isn't on the same continent as me... that would be troublesome.
